Investment News “2019 Top 50 Best Places to Work for Financial Advisers”, April 2019. The Best Places to Work for Financial Advisers program is a national program managed by Best Companies Group. The survey and recognition program are dedicated to identifying and recognizing the best employers in the financial advice/wealth management industry. The final list is based on the following criteria: must be a registered investment adviser (RIA), affiliated with an independent broker-dealer (IBD), or a hybrid doing business through an RIA and must be in business for a minimum of one year and must have a minimum of 15 full-time/part-time employees. The assessment process is compiled in a two part process based on the findings of the employer benefits & policies questionnaire and the employee engagement & satisfaction survey. The results are analyzed and categorized according to 8 Core Focus Areas: Leadership and Planning, Corporate Culture and Communications, Role Satisfaction, Work Environment, Relationship with Supervisor, Training, Development and Resources, Pay and Benefits and Overall Engagement. Best Companies Group will survey up to 400 randomly selected employees in a company depending on company size. The two data sets are combined and analyzed to determine the rankings. Five Star Professional, as a third party research firm, identified pre-qualified award candidates based on industry data and contacted all identified broker dealers, Registered Investment Advisor firms and FINRA-registered representatives to gather wealth manager nominations. Self-nominations are not accepted. Award candidates are then evaluated against 10 objective eligibility and evaluation criteria associated with wealth managers who must have a minimum of five years’ experience as an investment adviser representative or other accepted credentials, client retention rates, client assets administered, firm review and a favorable regulatory and complaint history as defined by Five Star. Five Star Professional determines the final list of Five Star Wealth Manager Award winners. USA Today and Statista selected the Best Financial Advisory Firms in 2023 based on two dimensions: recommendations by clients and peers and a firm’s growth of Assets under Management (AUM). The recommendations were collected via an independent survey sent to over 20,000 individuals. The development of AUM was analyzed in both the short- and long-term based on publicly available data. In the consideration for the top 500 RIA firms, recommendations had a weight of 20% while the development of AUM had a weight of 80% (short-term and long-term growth were equally weighted) to derive the final score. InvestmentNews qualified 1,578 firms headquartered in the United States based on data reported on Form ADV to the Securities and Exchange Commission. To qualify, firms must have met the following criteria: (1) latest ADV filing date is either on or after July 1, 2022, (2) total AUM is at least $100M, (3) managed assets for U.S. household clients during its most recently completed fiscal year, with at least one advisor per 500 clients, (4) no more than 50% of amount of regulatory assets under management is attributable to pooled investment vehicles (other than investment companies), (5) no more than 25% of amount of regulatory assets under management is attributable to pension and profit-sharing plans (but not the plan participants), (6) no more than 25% of amount of regulatory assets under management is attributable to corporations or other businesses, (7) provides financial planning services, (8) is not actively engaged in business as a broker-dealer (registered or unregistered), and (9) is not actively engaged in business as a registered representative of a broker-dealer.
