Position Overview:

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) will lead and grow a team to manage the operational and financial health of our business and help chart its future direction. The Director will work closely and productively with senior finance leaders and executive management to influence, refine, and implement strategy. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and entrepreneurial-minded individual who has a strong technical background and sharp focus on execution.
This role, reporting to the CFO, will lead the FP&A function at Steward and will be responsible for building and developing the practice as the Firm continues to scale. In this role, the Director of FP&A will drive high-impact strategic and operational initiatives, create & lead the development of management and board reporting, and facilitate the growth of our financial & business planning processes. This position will also take primary responsibility for the Firm’s financial model, annual budget process, and analytical functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with senior finance leaders to manage the company's operational finance functions, including financial planning and a range of strategic financial matters
  • Serve as a key business partner and contributor to growth strategies, tactics, and mid- and long-range planning
  • Be a critical thought partner for the broader business and drive informed decision-making through sound financial management
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual and long-term budgeting and planning processes
  • Support executive team in the preparation of presentations for internal and external stakeholders including board of directors, investors, and lenders
  • Own the preparation of our monthly financial results reporting and analysis and drive improvement in reporting processes and analytical depth
  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of junior and mid-level FP&A team, ensuring staff members receive appropriate training, development, mentorship, and performance management
  • Provide analyses and recommendations on financial and operational metrics to executive management to support decision making
  • Support the Firm’s Divisional Presidents to evaluate recruiting opportunities
  • Develop and maintain financial reporting systems, ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of the FP&A activities through the development and management of all internal and external financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and mid and long-range plans
  • Be a critical thought partner / avid consumer for the build out of our enterprise data warehouse

Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

  • Demonstrated educational success at a reputable university
  • M.B.A. or master's degree in finance is a plus
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in a financial management and operations function at a fast-growing company
  • At least five years’ of wealth management industry experience (broker-dealer and/or RIA experience a plus)
  • Broad working knowledge and in-depth understanding of ERP systems, BI tools, and analytical systems (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx, etc.)
  • Prior experience in an FP&A leadership role, and comfortable being “hands on” when/as necessary.
  • Demonstrated track record of as a high performing executor who can communicate problems and their solutions effectively
  • Ability to take high-level strategic perspectives while not being afraid to delve into the details of specific analyses
  • Ability to interact with and influence people at all levels of an organization
  • High degree of financial and analytical process leadership and business acumen
  • Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills combined with strong attention to detail
  • Experience building an enterprise or finance data warehouse
  • Ability to present complex information in a usable format to a diverse audience
  • Experience establishing, implementing, and adhering to process improvement initiatives within a high-growth environment
  • Comfortable multi-tasking as necessary; able to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with the feel of a start-up

Location:
Flexible, with a preference for tri-state area, but can be a remote or hybrid position
