Position Overview:

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will work closely with the executive leadership team and key stakeholders to develop and maintain Steward Partners technical and electronic information strategic plan supporting the Firm’s business strategy.

The CIO is responsible for identifying opportunities to streamline and enhance systems, processes and platforms that drive efficiencies and deliver best in class technology solutions across the Firm to create technology-driven competitive advantages.

This senior business leader helps prioritize opportunities to grow the business through the effective use of secure, scalable, and efficient technologies. Using an active and practical approach, the CIO has responsibility for developing and leading a technology team to support industry-leading business applications, information security, technology-driven process improvement, business continuity, user support, acquisitions and integrations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Business Strategy and Planning

  • Works collaboratively and cross-functionally with the leadership team and key stakeholders to develop and communicate technology strategy with a focus on driving enterprise value growth
  • Helps identify, prioritize, and implement appropriate technology applications, custom applications, and information systems to drive business results 
  • Develops technology plan and manages and forecasts expenditure within the plan
  • Effectively communicates technology strategy and effectiveness to executive leadership, business partners, board of directors, and investors

Core Business Applications and Information Systems

  • Supports all functional areas of the business to help identify and implement scalable and secure technology including but not limited to:
    • Client experience applications and related integration to simplify new account opening, multi-channel communications, and ongoing delivery of services
    • Partner onboarding experience 
    • Operational applications to drive operating efficiencies through automation of RIA and broker/dealer functions. This includes but is not limited to financial asset portfolio accounting and reporting, client billing, trading, asset custody interoperability, and client relationship management
    • Compliance applications to support regulatory requirements at the state and federal level including SEC, FINRA, state insurance and financial services regulators
    • Data and information infrastructure to support business analytics and intelligence to help drive improved internal decision making and client services. Also, works closely with the Compliance department to provide data and information to various regulatory agencies as part of exams, inquiries, etc.
    • Technology supplier due diligence to ensure compliance with Firm’s policies and procedures

Information Security

  • Develops, implements, and monitors the Company’s information security program, including effective cyber security systems, policies, and procedures to ensure that Company and client information are safe and secure at all times
  • Collaborates with legal and compliance to ensure systems are compliant with state and federal regulatory requirements

Technology Infrastructure and User Support

  • Designs and implements scalable, secure, high availability core technology infrastructure including data, voice, electronic communication, document management, and data management
  • Delivers a high-quality service experience for users of the core infrastructure
  • Works with function leaders and others in across the organization to make improvements to the technology architecture to optimize adoption, workflow efficiency, data collection and internal controls

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & QUALIFICATIONS

  • CTO, CIO or similar leadership role in a high growth environment within a dually-registered RIA and broker/dealer organization is essential
  • Understands wealth management technology trends to build strategy, scalable, and secure solutions
  • Financial services regulatory compliance-based organizations including experience with FINRA, SEC, and state technology, security and privacy related audits
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving capabilities
  • Collaborative approach to developing technology strategy, business plans, and related execution
  • Effective skills to communicate technology strategy and business plans to executive leadership, board of directors, and investors
  • Effective operational process improvement
  • Excellent leadership, prioritization, and organizational abilities
  • Acquisitions and technology integrations including due diligence evaluation and reporting and integrating acquired businesses
  • Ability to conduct technological analyses and research
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; 15 years experience in the Information Technology arena, at least 10 years management and strategic experience in this field or MBA/MS in related field with 10 years’ experience, 7 of which must be managerial and strategic.

Flexible, can be a remote or hybrid position. Individual must be willing to travel as needed.
